107'12 Classic used the following activities to introduce the rather abstract concept of school and class spirit to their Year 1s. The spooky decorations and atmosphere in the class created suspense and excitement for the year 1s! Envisioning 1. With the lights off, the PSL will ask the Y1s to close their eyes and let them imagine. the PSL will read out a few questions slowly to let them think and picture their ideal class: Script: You are now in your new class which you will stay with for 2 years. You have experienced different classes previously in your primary school. Think of each of your class, from Primary 1 all the way to primary 6. Did you have a good time with them? (Pause) There probably were some classes you liked more than others. Now I’m very sure you have an ideal class in mind, a class you hope that will make you feel at home in. How does it look like to you? (Pause) Is everyone smiling happily, or maybe lending each other a hand? I want you to remember how it looks like. This is the picture I want you to bring to this class, 107. After you’re done, please look up. Class 107 Jigsaw Puzzle 1. Jigsaw pieces with the Y1s’ names on each piece will be hidden in the classroom beforehand. 2. Each Y1 is to find their own piece and sit down in the circle. No further instructions will be given as we can then see whether they will help each other by giving the pieces they find (if their friends’ names are on it) to their friends, or if they find it but put it back if it is not theirs. 3. After they all have their piece, they are to write one or two characteristics that they think they have which will contribute to the class. For example, "I am creative and can help the class organize different and fun class outings!" Y1s are given 5min to fill their piece in. 4. After the Y1s are done doing up their jigsaw piece, they will go to the centre of the circle and put together the jigsaw. Post thoughts: For the jigsaw puzzle 107'12 classic did, the pieces were all different and formed "I <3 7" when put together. The class spent quite a long time putting the pieces together and only the few in front could participate in putting it together. Comments are closed.
